Mon Beach – Dien Cape

Mon Beach – Dien Cape is located near together, in Dong Be hamlet, Hoa Tam commune, Dong Hoa district. Dien Cape is also called Dai Lanh cape, Ke Ga cape, Cap Varella with the geographical coordinate of 120 53’48’’ North Latitude and 1090 27’06’’ East Longitude.

From Tuy Hoa city, following Hoa Hiep – Phuoc Tan – Nga Beach road for about 24 km, the visitors shall arrive Mon Beach – Dien Cape or the visitors can start from Tuy Hoa city following National Highway No. 1 for about 25 km to the middle of Ca pass and turn to Vung Ro road, follow the asphalt road to the East for about 5km, then the visitors shall arrive Mon Beach – Dien Cape. From Mon Beach, cross a sweet water stream, go up for about 400 steps with the length of 500 m, the visitors shall arrive Hai Dang Station.

At the end of XIX century, a French Captain named Varella discovered and recorded the importance of this land peak in the world maritime map which is called Cap Varella by the French. In 1890, the French people constructed this lighthouse with the purpose of directing for ships operated on the sea to access and leave Vung Ro bay. After the war, the lighthouse was collapsed. In 1995, the lighthouse was constructed and re-operated. This is one of 8 lighthouses with the age of more than 100 years old within the total of 79 lighthouses which are operating in Vietnam; this is the lighthouse which is closest to the international waters.

Mon Beach is covered by Nay cape in the North and Dien cape in the South with the coast of more than 400 m long, white sand, blue water, light wave, small slope which is sloped gently to the sea.

Within the radius of approximate 5 km, there are 3 national historical relics including Mon Beach – Dien Cape, Da Bia mountain, Vung Ro and many beautiful beaches such as Goc beach, Bang beach in the North, Northern Ca pass forbidden Forest. This place has much potential for developing such tourism types as: sea resort, sea sports, mountain climbing, visiting, studying sea, forest ecology…;

Visiting this place, the visitors can climb to the peak of the lighthouse to have a general look to the endless ocean and set foot on Coordinate Landmark 0 of the General Cadastral Department; the visitors can also stay overnight to enjoy pure and cool climate; enjoy raw seafood from the sea, listen to the sound of wave with rustling noise to welcome the first sunrise on land in Vietnam.

Was recognized as a National Relic on 22/8/2008. In 2014, this place was ranked in Top 5 Most Famous Lighthouses of more than 100 years old.
